Just a few years ago, remote work was seen as a perk, but today—in many cases—it has become the standard. But is that really the case everywhere? In IT, the work model is changing dynamically, and with it, the expectations of candidates. What does the situation look like at the end of 2025?

What do IT Candidates Expect in 2025?

The IT job market is changing very quickly—and with it, the expectations of specialists. Not long ago, offering the option to work remotely was enough to attract attention. Today, that's just the starting point. Candidates are looking for much more.

  • Full Remote or True Flexibility
Many professionals don't want to return to the office. They expect to be able to work from anywhere—whether from home, another city, or even another country. Hybrid work is only acceptable if it actually provides freedom, and doesn't mean a mandatory few days in the office.
  • Transparency From the First Contact
Candidates want to know what work model the company offers right in the job advertisement. A lack of clear information is often a reason for resigning from participation in the recruitment process.
  • Asynchronous Work and Adapting to Different Time Zones
In global IT projects, asynchronous work is increasingly becoming the standard, so that everyone can perform tasks at their own pace, without having to constantly adapt to the team's schedule.
  • Well-organized Remote Onboarding
Candidates expect to know where to find documents, which tools to use, and who to ask for help from day one. Organizational chaos in the first few weeks is the most common reason for frustration in new projects.
  • Access to Development
Online courses, certification funding, and the opportunity to work with new technologies are important aspects of remote job offers. Candidates want to be sure they won't get stuck in place – even if they work from home.

New Trends in Remote Work

Remote Work in IT it's no longer just an option—it's an everyday reality that's constantly evolving. In 2025, there are several clear trends that are changing the way professionals and companies approach this model of collaboration.

The thing, that is becoming increasingly popular is combining full remoteness with occasional in-person meetings. Many employees value the ability to work from anywhere, but they also appreciate it when the team has an opportunity to meet up once a quarter or during key workshops. It's a compromise between flexibility and relationship building.

At the same time, there is a growing importance of the asynchronous communication. Distributed teams across different time zones need to operate in a way that doesn't require everyone to be present at the same time. Short messages, well-maintained documentation, and meeting recordings are starting to replace lengthy video conferences.

Candidates are also paying more and more attention to quality of processes and tools, that support remote work. Efficient onboarding, transparent tasks in systems like Jira or ClickUp, and quick access to necessary information are becoming not so much "nice to have" as mandatory.

Is also gaining significance in the field of work-life balance. For many professionals, working remotely not only saves time on commuting, but also more control over your day. Companies that can respect this - for example, by not inundating employees with meetings late at night - gain an advantage in the eyes of candidates.

Working remotely in IT in 2025 is therefore less of an "experiment" or "benefit" and more of a deliberate choice - Both for companies and professionals.

Challenges for Companies

For organizations, remote work is still a mix of benefits and difficulties. On the one hand, it means savings and access to a global talent pool. On the other, it requires greater attention to integration, smooth communication and keeping the team engaged.

Companies that can combine flexibility with good organization, are winning the battle for the best specialists.

Remote Work - Still Attractive, But Not Always Possible

Most companies in the technology industry today offer a model of remote work or hybrid work. At the same time, some projects require an on-site presence - this is especially true in the SAP industry, where for implementations or rollouts Customers still expect onsite work.

For candidates, this means they have to make an informed choice: whether they prefer flexibility or stable but less flexible fixed projects.

Summary

Remote Work in IT is no longer just technology - is all about work culture and trust. Candidates expect flexibility, but also clear rules and well-planned processes.
